About Me.

Crimson Foster.
Crimson’s a 25-year-old, non-binary portrait and fashion photographer, originally from the south-west of the UK and now working in London, UK, with a pristine interest in working with/photographing queer-leaning folks. Whether you want headshots, photos for your band, or your business, whatever it is, I’m more than happy to help.
Shooting on both 35mm film and digitally, I have experience working with a vast variety of people and venues, including bands such as Mason Hill and venues like The Fleece in Bristol. I hope to go on to larger projects in the future. Music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up surrounded by the pop-punk and alternative rock scene, attending punk-leaning concerts for fun since I was twelve. Growing up with a love for all the various forms of rock music it’s very much had an impact on the kind of styling I gravitate towards with my fashion shoots. Getting the opportunity to merge my love of live music and photography over the last handful of years has been a wonder.
What I’d describe my photography style is as something very much inspired by movies and to a degree, cinematic. The initial time I studied at university, I was a film studies student, which set me on how movies are produced and how I can capture that aesthetic with my work.
I very much like my photos to feel as if you, the audience, is looking through a window into a scene. This very much comes through in the lighting setups I’m drawn towards. I like diegetic lighting because I much prefer it when the light source in any given photo is something in the frame, on location. Whether that be lamps, windows, or anything in that vein - it has to be part of the location/mise-en-scene. I don’t want to draw attention to the fact that photoshoots can often be very artificial. It’s why I’ll almost always shoot on location, whether that’s a cathedral, arcade, harbour-side, or wherever. The area is just as important as the outfit, and the two enhance one another.
Alongside that, I’ve also done a shoot on my queer identity for Farid the Zine, the student magazine for the University of Gloucestershire.
Not only am I a very well-equipped photographer, I also act as a cinematographer and video editor - having become very accustomed to the software programs Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition.
